WW2 U.S. Paratrooper
82nd "All American" Airborne
3rd/505th PIR
Sergeant Gal
U.S. Paratrooper
Over the years of watching people win markers and tank at D-Day, I decided to get my own uniform. There were 2 other paratroopers there last. They took a picture with me but I forgot to ask them for a copy. Why be a paratrooper? They have the coolest uniforms. Why the 82nd Airborne? The guy I play with, Jeff, was in the 82nd and last year at D-Day we flew the 82nd flag. A little history - The 82nd 505th dropped at 0151 hours and the entire regiment landed by 0202 hours. Most of the troops landed on or near the drop zone, but a few were widely dispersed over the countryside. The 3d Battalion entered STE. MERE EGLISE at 0400 hours, and the town was securely held and outposted
within an hour
. The American Flag was raised over STE. MERE EGLISE, the first French town to be liberated by the Allies.
